    Just saw this video on starter removal from a V6 4x4. It's interesting because he doesn't remove the intermediate steering shaft at all. He gets both starter bolts with a swivel socket and long extension from underneath the truck. He also takes the starter apart (solenoid from the main body) to get it out the driver side wheel well past the steering shaft. There is an exhaust pipe removed which he says is to make the starter easier to see in the video but isn't necessary to remove the starter. Just passing it along as an idea if you want to do a starter replacement or starter rebuild.
