Starter screeching!!! Help

Hey guys so new to TW, had my taco for about 3 years now. 2014 Tacoma 4x4 4.0L 6cyl…

So I ran into a starting issue 3 days ago. Tried starting and my truck would crank but no start until many tries later, however ever since then it’s been no hope. Checked the battery and the current was still under warranty, so I exchanged just for the hell of having a clean slate. Figured if battery still had its charge, couldn’t be alternator so assumed it’s a starter issue.

bought a Duralast gold DLG3428S starter from AutoZone and installed it myself. Truck now starts, but now there’s a screeching sound that I can’t get rid of. I assumed maybe I didn’t seat it properly, but after taking off mounting bolt and reinstalling, it still screeches. Any ideas/tips on reinstalling starter? TYIA!!!

 

I’ve never had luck with anything Autozone..might have had better luck rebuilding your old one.

 

Starter is a reman unit?

 

No, the duralast gold are supposed to be made new. however I didn’t do much research on looking for reviews or whatnot…

 

Get that thing out of there before it damages the ring gear
