No problem moving. 1 to 3 is like rolling at 25 through a development. No hurry. When I need it, it's there. I don't know how much it helps, but the TRD CAI & exhaust sounds good. Sure would have liked to see about 25 or so hp and torque.

I skip 5th Gear probably 90% of the time, and occasionally go from 3rd to 6th.

I only start in second if I'm on a hill and already rolling 5+ mph. Always start in 1st otherwise. Rarely skip gears either. Maybe 6th down to 4th on occasion

Same. If I have even a slight roll I jump to 2nd. The key is to not jump straight to second if you have to ride the clutch and gas to keep the RPM's from dropping too much. If you're having to rev the motor and ease the clutch in, you're going to get more wear than if you just stuck to 1st.

I've found that if I run my revs a little further than I've done in past vehicles on acceleration (around 2500-3000 rpm) I then shift much more slightly to allow my rpms to match the lower gear ratios. It was a bit more of a learning curve on this truck to learn the ratios, and until late I was frustrated by the synchros, which I feel are doing a poor job of matching to account for driver error.

I run 1st to around 3000, 2nd and 3rd like to be run up to 2500 and then "rowed" - (shift and give time for revs to drop before releasing clutch), and 4th, 5th, and 6th are very tight together so you can usually quick shift these and the synchros pick up the slack.

Reminds me very much of an old jeep wranglers gearing and weak synchros. They last forever, but take some getting used to.

seems like i'm the oddball here. i use first to start always, often run it up to 3500, and let the clutch grab 2nd while spinning and 2nd digs in and almost spins the rears. there is never a complaint of "no low end torque" in my truck. ever.

but if i'm more casual and less fun oriented, then i'll use 1st to git er moving and slide into 2nd around 8mph or so.

In my 2016 1st to 2nd always shifts hard unless I'm reving like 3000. I'm normally shift to 2nd at 13mph-15mph. And it will go in smooth but at like 10mph 1st to 2nd feels like it wants to not let me go into 2nd. Maybe because mine still isn't broken it at almost 7k on it.

you mean it bogs in 2nd if you shift under 10mph or so? i don't know the number but it's similar for me or at least it used to be. i installed a pedal commander and it helps the motor hook up with normal throttle input quite well at low rpm. it kind of fixes the crazy weak throttle response we have programmed in our trucks. it's not a perfect fix but it is adjustable and has really returned all the fun to driving again after getting disappointed in the motor software early on.

but i still rev the motor up to 3k or higher usually just cus that's where the torque is, and that's where i can grab 2nd with a good bump of inertia and the trucks a blast to drive. i took a 100 mile drive today in the rain just because of how much I'm enjoying driving this MT.

Proper driving means you should always start in 1st. 2nd only if you are moving atleast 7mph IMO.

Ive got a 2017 manual trd off road. I always use first gear i never start in second. The crazy thing to me is that the first is low which I like but reverse is way to high geared. Its a pain in the ass trying to back up a hill up in the mountains. Or especially trying to do a 3 point turn while backing up a steep incline. The first time I drove the truck up in the mountains I actually stalled it a fews times. I ended up just putting the truck in 4lo one time makes it so much nicer on a real tight 3 point turn I just backed up the hillside and went on my way.
