I’ve had my 2017 TRD Pro for 11 months. A little over 50k miles. No issues whatsoever until 2 days ago I pressed the ignition button and it turned over probably 10 times without starting so I stopped it. Tried again and it turned over maybe 4-5 times then started with a little “shudder”. Started fine several times thereafter but now has done it twice again today. To me it seems like it’s just not getting fuel so maybe it’s the fuel pump? Anyone else experienced this or have any ideas?

Sounds like your battery is going out.

It seems to be turning over strong. It doesn’t feel like a weak battery to me but I can test it on Monday.

Fuel pumps usually don't die on parked vehicles. Fuel pumps die pulling away from stop lights. Probably not the fuel pump if it was running fine when you parked it.

I'm leaning towards battery is weak since it cannot deliver the proper voltage to start your vehicle.

No codes showing. I just wasn’t suspecting the battery since it’s turning over quickly. A bad battery in my other vehicles have always resulted in some audibly noticeable changes while cranking. This sounds perfectly normal except that it just doesn’t fire. I will test the battery as soon as I can and hope it really is that simple.

Still under Warranty?? If so, don't fuck with it yourself other than to check the battery. Make the dealer do it.

I don’t think that dealer knows what they are talking about. When you top off the extra gas typically goes back to the gas station tank via the vapor recovery line. It can also back up into the car charcoal canister and cause some issues, but shouldn’t affect starting in any way.

If you have a battery jump box, try using it next time. If it starts right up your battery probably has some bad cells.

Do a "load" test when starting it...… Put volt meter on the battery and watch the meter as someone starts it.... Should not drop below 12.0 volts.

Check battery and clean posts/connections.....fill it up with water. Give it a day to recharge or put on charger..... :fingerscrossed:

Could be many things. Weak fuel pumps are a thing of the past, yeah they go out, but they usually last 100k or many more, and just poop out without notice.

I say this respectfully- Start with battery condition, and if it needs further? Seek professional help, don't just guess. So many want so bad, to avoid paying a professional tech, that they're willing to take internet guessing (advice) from ones who are not paying the bill, only to end making things worse and/or paying more just carpet bombing with what they think is wrong.

Guys he’s said multiple times it cranked strong, just didn’t fire

OP - mine did that quite a few times on stock tune - it would flood out by itself and not want to start for quite awhile after sitting. Flooring the throttle while cranking it would clear the flood and get her going

note mine is a stickshift with an actual key-turned ignition so i control the cranking

Strong cranking with a delayed start can be caused by a lack of fuel pressure being maintained in the system. Assuming the 3rd gen keyless start works like most vehicles it should run the pump to prime the lines when you turn it on to the run position without starting it. Try that a few times and see if you hear the fuel pump run more than a second or two.
