Hey guys I have 1998 3rzfe, that I recently pulled the engine and transmission to replace seals and bearings. Now that everything is back together, I'm having some starting trouble. Yes it's a new fuel filter, and has 1/3tank of old gas with 3/4 tank of premium. I was able to drive for 100 miles after the new gas was put in but after I parked it to try it the next day I don't hear my fuel pump come on and I don't smell gas.. What are some common failures or fixes? Anyone else have this problem?

I'd check your fuel pump relay and wiring first if you aren't getting fuel. You can loosen a fuel line by the engine to check for fuel.

Even if the fuel pump never came out? I labeled everything when I was taking it apart and all connections are in place. I'll double check them To make sure nothing came loose and try cracking a fuel line to see as well. The relay was the first thing I tried and it did the same. I even primed the system again
Thank you both for your reply, any help or ideas are greatly appreciated

Did you check the EFI fuse? If fuse is good, i'd make sure you have spark. With 290k your fuel pump could be the issue, or fuel filter.

I changed the efi fuse out with another fuse and same issue. Last night I checked the connections, I'm going to try to test for spark and fuel pressure at the rail tonight. I'm starting to think it is the pump. I tried to start it a few times last night and it would start to turn over but just wouldn't go all the way. I think it's taunting me lol

I appreciate the help though, GA-3RZFE. I did put a new fuel filter on when I had the engine out

Check the battery connections also. After my complete rebuild I had a similar problem that required me to replace my optima red top and it fired right up. If you pull the fuel line off the rail after turning it over, there should be gas coming out. if not, pump is likely the culprit to your issue.

You do realize, I assume, that the fuel pump does not turn on with the key in 'IGN' position. It turns on ONLY when the computer detects that the motor is being rotated, in this case by the starter

    *****UPDATE*****
Truck is getting fuel at the filter, re bled the system and tried to start again. It coughed and then fell on its face again. Tonight I'll finally get around to testing fuel pressure at rail. My check engine light is on and it says
    P0115, coolant temp sensor..

    What the heck lol

Yeah, GA I'm getting fuel there so I believe it is the pump,

Tan4x4-- yes I do realize that, that's why I had someone else turn the key with my under the truck

Typically, your fuel pump will prime, but continuous fuel pressure is dependent on a signal from the crank position sensor. Ensure that fuel pump is running while cranking and report back.
