Well my dads a rep for some companies and his territory and they didnt have a fix-it "hub" for warrantee work and such. So my dad gave me the option of starting my own business and being that person for the company!

Im pretty excited! I have been waiting to do something with my life being in college and all, wanting to get into industry doing whatever. Got the chance and gonna take it!

Never owned my own business before you have a feeling I am going to really enjoy it!

Just wanted to share my morning excitement.. :)

EDIT: idk why i posted this in the AZ forum but ya maybe the jobs or offtopic is a better place. admins for you to decide.

Hey good luck to you, I have been wanting my own business since I was younger. It could be alot of work but I think if you make it through, it could be a rewarding experience. My mother used to have her own business putting together wedding dresses and ever since I have wanted my own business of some type.

Good luck, maybe this will inspire me to start my own, or at least look into it more seriously.

    GOOD LUCK!

    thanks guys!

Ya my dad owns his own business but "works" for companies. Its nice, he has no one to report to and works when he wants to make money (which is all the time haha). Im opening it under his current business name but, so I guess its like a branch off of his, but he promised me the business was mine without interference from him. Hopefully everything works out!

Im so gitting this morning haha I have been waiting for the ok phone call for about a week now!

Repairing tooling and such for machine shops. The company sells machine shop supply which comes with warantees of some sort and I repair them. They have repair shops all over the us but didn't have one in my dads territory so now they will. Dads gonna send me business haha

Ya we got the idea to do it because a customer sent out a part for repair to cali and it took 2 weeks for a quote and they it seems they were very busy because they charged them a lot for the repair (we also do repairs that aren't warrantee work. For them).

Nope because he sells the supplies that I'm fixing for the manufacturer. If that makes any sense haha he has nothing to do with the fixing he only sells

Wow dude, that's all you can say? LOL

It's not a conflict of intrest because of a contractual obligation Oli will have to perform the service just like any other person would have. And it won't look good if his dad is sending out half assed parts back to his customers that his son repaired. If anything, it will encourage vendors to deal with them because they can put out a higher quality product after the repair is done.

PS. Conflict of intrests mainly applies in the legal and medical world when it comes to exchange of money for services or products.

Congrats man! I highly...HIGHLY, suggest reading the book, "Rich Dad, Poor Dad". I promise you will thank me when you are finished and will excel in your new business venture. I went to college, graduated 06 and am now a Senior Financial Analyst in a very successful company...but this book has helped set the foundation for my small investments that have big payback potentials.

Ya my dad swears by working for yourself! He used to work for one company, as an employee. Now he reps for about 6 different company's, all selling machine shop suplply but all selling different things. He absoluetly loves being his own boss not dealing with reporting to anyone. I hope to take over his full business once I graduate. He wants me too and I think doing what I will be doing is gonna get my foot in the door and give me a smoother transition into doing what he does

If you are going to read a book to help you out with your new business I would recommend "How to Win Friends and Influence People" Its an easy read and although the book is pretty old it teaches a lot of great lessons about being the type of leader people want to follow and how to get people to enjoy doing the things the will benefit you/your new company.
