What cap do you have? As much as I loved the Diamondback, I'm looking to transition back to a shell. I think it'll fit my needs better...

BTW, I'll lend you my Husky for a week...after she sees how they shed, ANY dog you get will pale in comparison and she'll be down for it!

Can you post a pic with the sliders? I want sliders but the wife and kid use the steps to get in and out. Want to see what the truck looks like with the sliders and if they could use them in place of the steps

Good suggestion but somehow I don't think that strategy would work...

ARE cab height (V-series? - their popular one with single T handle for back window) with a bunch of options (foldown sliding front window, sportsmen windoors with sliders/screens, carpet, lights etc). It was around $2650 after shopping around a bit and driving a few hours each way. I’m in Chicagoland and everywhere I checked around here was about $1000 higher. Find a place that does good work. My install took probably 4 hours and they did an awesome job getting everything sealed up.

Only way I’d have a double cab is with the long bed.

I’ve posted some others in here somewhere but they aren’t on my phone anymore unfortunately. The main thing I like about the ARE is the LEER seems like the skirt goes down too far in the bedsides.

@Tacoma091919 - Thanks for the pics. I do like the cab high profile.

Those Martin Racks look a lot like the Prinsu Racks. Did you do a comparison? It seems like the Martins are cheaper.

Your front window is a slider, but does it fold down as well? Some folks seem to like the fold down option because it makes it easier to clean. I'd be interested in what you think?

Inside is very clean and organized. How are you using the big red carabiners?

@Steves104x4 - That's a nice looking cap. I like the cab height for the long uninterrupted platform but go back and forth on going a little higher - maybe 4 inches? The main reason is that I'm thinking I want a drawer system and the extra 4 inches would give me a little extra headspace.

If I go that route, I can put a rack on the cab (@ 4 inches) and I'll still have a long uninterrupted platform

How much over cab height are you?

@Tacoma091919 - I just figured out how to find posts you've done in the past. :facepalm:I'll try to avoid questions that you've already answered.

I'm slow but stupid. It's a winning combination...

Yes the Martin Rack is a copy of Prinsu, basically they all are. Great customer service though, there’s a thread in the reviews section. Really happy with it. Yes the front window folds down, and I’d recommend a fold down slider for the front unless you want to remove the cap to clean the windows. Definitely get vented windoors, I use the drivers side a LOT. ARE has better windoors than some of the other companies, more ventilation for sleeping. Buy it with every option you want and end up happy. Shop around for prices though, they vary a lot dealer to dealer. All caps are about the same quality IMO. I looked at all brands and they all have good and bad ones that come out of the factories. The tuff bin up front is secured with turnbuckles and I added quick fist clamps to the top for stuff (light, FE, can strap a highlift up there or along the bedside). The big carabiners up front hold bags (beach bag, grocery bags etc so they don’t spill). They also are good for clipping stuff out of the way (little lantern) when sleeping back there on an air mattress. I like the setup. I don’t use my truck bed for “truck stuff” like mulch, rock, dirt etc that’s what trailers are for lol. I haul mostly camping gear, bunch of large RC Trucks, etc, stuff I want dry and protected.

@Tacoma091919 - thanks for the input on the front window and the Martin Rack.

When you said that you looked at all brands of caps did you also look at aluminum or stainless? A lot of folks seem to think that the metal caps are sturdier. I've seen the SmartCaps and the RLD designs (both stainless) but if I think I like the Tradesman over those. I've seen the one @Toynado has and like the overall functionality over the SmartCap and RLD.

We rescued a 1 year old chiweenee from our local shelter. I didn't even know there was such a thing until we got her lol. Weird looking thing she is, but best dog ever. :) If you can do it, do it. I can't even begin to explain
what a great experience it is.
