So I've recently had a bearing go out in my starter. Replaced it with one from a Junkyard and everything worked fine. Well tailgating at the game over the weekend I sensed maybe my battery was going dead so I hot the remote start button and all I got was a spinning starter. Went to the game came back attempted to jump start the truck and same problem. Got it towed back home and bought a new starter.... -__- put it in and bam same exact issue starter is just spinning and not engaging the flywheel. Got a code for a crankshaft position sensor, replaced it and got my battery tested. Everything came out good. Bench tested the starter and it's fine. Voltage at the starter is also good. I'm leaning towards A. Starter relay, even though it tested good, B. Maybe my remote start locked something being as my battery was dying. I'm out of ideas as of now and I'm really considering getting it towed somewhere.

run jumper cable from battery positive to starter solenoid to confirm its not a bad main wire to starter.

bad wires often show 12 volts because the still have a few strands of wire connected but they don't have enough wire left to allow amps to flow so things don't work right

Theft disable with the solenoid circuit?,,,on that button startup setup?

Sounds like the big motor is powered,,but no solenoid action. Go there.

Do you have another anti theft installed? Some folks have thew money to run 2.

Pulled the battery down tailgating,,then cranked the truck,,or tried to. Something got real hot or was set to fail during that try. Trying to pull start amps with a almost dead battery will stick(or try to stick) some solenoids and relays. Whichever one can pull the most,,gets it,,and the rest suffer,,and get damn hot. Just replaced a wiring harness on a 68 camaro that had a hot stick with a almost dead batt. Enough juice to spin the start motor, but not enough to fire the solenoid. Terminal was CRANKED down and couldn't be popped off until a wrench was turned,,sadly. Got the whole damn start harness portion witch was a shady install to begin with.

EDIT; Seen your flexplate post,,glad you found it.

Well when my last starter bearing went out it chipped one of the teeth on the flex plate. guessing it just lined up perfectly with the old starter and new starter. Just put a 3/4 socket on the crank pulley and turned it by hand about two ratchets and fired right up
