So my 95.5 wiring manual never came in so thought I would turn here for help.

    95.5 Tacoma, originally a 3rz auto , now a 3.4 v6 manual
Engine is from a 99 4runner and has the tb replaced with one from a 96
Engine wiring harness is 96 5-speed as is ecu

Truck powers with key turned to on but will not engage starter, if i remove the starter relay in the fuze box under the hood and use a jumper wire it starts right up. I imagine that this has to do with auto neutral lockout in the chassis harness somewhere but since I do not have a manual I am unsure. Any help is appreciated.

    TIA

Thanks cruiserguy but disregard please. I went ahead and grounded the system to bypass that portion of the wiring. Problem solved

I was having a similar problem a couple weeks ago but mine is intermittent. Until it bites the dust I just ran a temperary from the little wire going to the starter to a push button switch hanging under my dash hidden away. When it's acting up I'll turn my key on and everything works except actually engaging the starter. So now if it does it I just turn the key on and hit that button and fires right up. After some advice from TW and a few local mechanics I've pretty much narrowed it down to the neutral safety switch. Until it just quits completely or gets more frequent I'm gonna just keep my shady tucked away starter button hooked up. NSS is very easy to get to and from my understand most of the time it isn't needs a good cleanin.

There is a black/red 18 gauge wire that runs from the starter relay in the fusebox under the hood. If you just tap into it and run it to a ground (I used the same fender ground as the negative from the battery) your ignition switch will bypass all the safety interlocks from the neutral safety switch. Not suggesting you bypass your safety system just letting you know how to :)
