I was looking at my front windshield this morning and I noticed that im starting to get these little bubbles under the top of the front windshield, should I be concerned about this? I dont think that water is getting inside the vehicle yet but it might get worse in the future if I leave it as is?

Is this normal wear and tear or should I try to see a dealership about it? I purchased my truck from a dealership that was over 200 miles away, can I take it to any dealership if I go the dealership route?

Mine has two spots like in your bottom picture. They look like rock chips but are on the back side. They’ve been there since my truck was new. It’s 3 years old now and it hasn’t worsened. There must be very little inspection of the windshields because my glass is awful. There are wavy lines all throughout the glass if you look carefully. It’s not immediately noticeable but once you see it it’s very annoying.

Mine has that too, it’s apparently common after a few years. If you’re still under warranty try the nearest dealer.

Just to clarify, are you referring to the bubbles or the distortion?

Given where you live and the amount of rain you get, I would have it looked at. Any dealership should be able to help you. You don’t need to go back to place you bought it.

The main point I would want is to get the issue documented with the date and mileage of your complaint. This way, if the dealer says “his is. I thing to worry about” and later (when you are out of warranty) it fails, you’ll have the record to better argue for coverage.

For me in New England I would think that would absolutely be an issue with all the freezing and thawing we get. I could see water getting into that bubble, then freezing, causing the bubble to expand or even crack the glass. Just like spalling on our concrete garage floors up here.

Just as an aside, that more noticeable one in the last photo looks like a chip from a stone or something. It is hard to tell from the photo, but if it is a chip, most car glass places can fix those (which I would as the heat cycles and vibration from driving will eventually cause it to spread into a crack)

That little circle distortion in the last picture is under the glass not on top of it, not sure how that happened. It doesnt look that big when your standing far away but I put the phone as close as I could to capture the defects better for the photo.

Same as mine. I have 2 spots like that. Both are worse than yours and also a bit lower down. They’re about center of that tinted band. I’ve watched them closely and they haven’t changed at all in 3 years. Also, it’s not a repairable chip because it can’t be accessed from both sides.

Same here, I have it on my passengers side and on my drivers side, both under the glass.
