So... Driving home from work this morning. State Patrol got behind me and followed for a few miles. I was in the middle lane of a 3 lane interstate here in Colorado. I changed lanes to exit and he lit me up.

He stated that he pulled me over because I had modified the suspension of the truck and stated that it was misdemeanor to operate the vehicle in this manner.

    I have a 1995 tacoma with a 3 inch suspension lift and a 1.5 inch body lift with 33's.

I think he was looking for a DUI (at 7:30 am???) He didn't site me for the suspension lift but did give me a citation for not wearing my seat belt.

    NOT VERY HAPPY!!!

Is not wearing your seatbelt a primary or secondary offense. (can they pull you over just for not wearing your seatbelt?) he was probably looking for a reason...

Not wearing your seatbelt is not a primary offense ( they can't pull you over for that alone ) here in Colorado. I doubt he could see if I was wearing a seatbelt from behind.

In MA they can't pull you over for just the seatbelt, so they will try and find something else. I'm thinkin its the same in Co?

You mean you didn't tell him you just took it off to get your wallet out of your back pocket? Woulda been my first response to the seat belt thing.

This is a bunch of vague bullshit subject to each officer's interpretation and really needs some specs to go with it. I mean, c'mon, your lift is nothing crazy. This should pertain to outlandish monster truck style lifts and tires. Get some specs in there for God's sake. Might as well have a statute that just says we can ticket you and/or fine you for anything we may feel like ticketing/fining you.........caca del toro.

There are stupid laws everywhere. Came across one that said you can't have a chocolate ice cream cone in your back pocket while walking on the sidewalk.

There's another vague law! Is a cone with chocolate ice cream, or a chocolate-flavored cone, without ice cream? Or an ice cream cone dipped in chocolate?

    Shoulda been a lawyer.

They should hire you to go through the laws and clean up a bit.

Salt Lake City has a pretty retarded exhaust law. Any modified exhaust is illegal. It started out as a way to cut down on those annoying Harley riders (yes, like the South Park episode) but now the cops pull over anybody that has modified their exhaust at all.
