I think it comes down to what you have encountered and where your immediate limitations lie. If you are doing mild wheeling and havnt had to worry about not clearing an obstacle or find one to clear...then go for suspension to make the ride better and....maybe faster? If you are crawling on stuff and are getting close to smacking stuff, it can get a little hairy being naked without armor.

When I was back in VA we had a lot of rocks and being stock in height I wanted armor first so that I could attempt things and worst case I had insurance in skids and sliders. Eventually I got the suspension I wanted for the lift I needed and at that point I could tackle the bigger obstacles while still enjoying it. So I would assess what your off road journey is like and go from there if that helps. My personal vote is skids for more underbody surface area coverage while sliders are more about that frame rail protection. From there, get suspension...bumpers are cool for looks and recovery points (shackles) which is why I would make them last priority.

No worries brother I only recently got acquainted with wheeling in the last few years, but with armor you can make mistakes and fudge lines to get up with some speed to a degree. I know many don't want skids first cause no one will see your investment, but any wheeler will give you a lot of respect for throwing your money in the right direction for the right reasons instead of getting some flashy lights that wont assist you on a rock path especially if you don't night wheel. At the end of the day, all of this is perspective...but being honest with yourself of what you want your truck to do will get you where you want for likely the least amount of coin. I have changed up my build a few times, but that is after making a plan based of what research I could gather and testing that style. Most of it has been a one and done purchase, but occasionally it doesn't fit the lifestyle. I recently sold an RTT that I thought I would never sell that I got for a steal, but with wheeling recently I just don't care for it after having some ground tent camping. I guess Im officially back to being just a fast guy and no longer and overlander, but hey I tried it and it just wasn't for me. I agree though man, skids are always a solid investment at any time in the build.

I also didn't realize how gangster your build name is...I always wanted to relate the chupa to my build but it just didn't sound right. Aye all I needed was to think of the bell...well done!

Haha you are ahead of the game with that chalupa. A bed shell can help, but if you don't haul stuff a lot to where it would warrant a lockable bed, it might not be a bad idea to get something a little easier to moderate? I didn't like the softtoppers initially, but I have had it on mine for a while simply cause I had to haul a bunch of stuff to texas at one point and never took it off. Nothing sits in my bed besides my spare, but I like how it covers the bed although I will probably lose that soon too. If you ground tent, you could roll naked bed as well, at the end of the day though bed stuff is all about what YOU want out of it. I know some guys who have a bedrack just for the fact that you can mount all sorts of tools on it where its still aero, but out of the way. So that's where it pays to figure what floats your boat...Im a big believer in these newer toppers for camping so that is what is keeping me on this hobo mentality instead of classing it up in an RTT. Also I do a lot of night wheeling so I like to know I can claim my land and roam around knowing I wont find people stealing it later.

Dude. This is some Golden goodness. I am in heaven.

    3F440F8E-D72E-409B-BD99-6D073BC6D3DB.jpg

Got the first shipment. Everything looks as it should thanks bruthas!

@state48overland So it has begun. I have the 2 Bantams, all those lights are going on the taco, minus one s8 that goes in the runner.
Should I reach it to Jay with a PM regarding setup.
Just wanting to get an idea of how I can double up these circuits.

    For instance: Bantam 1
    Red Rocks
    Clear Rocks
Red Camp Lights (tap into dome light)
    Clear Camp Lights
    30” s8 Amber in Demello
    Squadron Fogs in Demello
    Squadron Pro Ditch Lights
40” Onyx Dual Control (uses 2 switches)

    Need to discuss:
    - how many rock lights can come off 1 circuit?
    - how many s2s can come off 1 circuit?
    - the Onyx dual control will use 2 circuits?

In the word of Monty Python “Holy Hand Grenade!!” Look at the size of this box!

This is the most serious light I have ever purchased. This is insanity.

Thanks so much for the hook up Erick and Jay, I am glad I went this direction instead of punting.
