you have the last production year of a generation. Most of the problems have been solved dont go through what if's and worry about what doesnt exist.

Loud people said it did. It creates a rubber gasket. I don’t see why it wouldn’t work. Especially if you’re sealing it before it starts leaking.

 

Not going to argue with you bud. That stuff isn't going to do anything but void your warranty. Amazon prime reviews are not where you should gather your mechanical info from.

This reminds me of the old JC Whitney catalog we used to get in the mail when I was a kid , man they had all kinds of products that seemed to be too good to be true , but I loved looking at every page and dreaming of the mods I could do to my 1964 vw beetle …

 

I loved those catalogs and their cheezy black and white graphics too! My Bug was a 72 Super Beetle.

PS: those catalog pages made decent TP in a pinch.

 

Spraying the seam is not going to fix anything and just make a mess. Good news is if you are going to get a timing cover leak, it is likely to be before your power train warranty is up. You have to keep an eye on it though. Typically starts behind the power steering pump.

 

about a month ago i was at the toyota parts dept and i asked the parts guy how many have they done. he said too many to keep track of. they did say mostly 2016 thru 2018. my 16 had to get the coolant crossover pipe replaced. no oil leak in mine.

 

What about the coolant line behind the engine and the firewall, what about the coolant hoses, what about the transmission coolant lines, there are so many things to worry about, don’t worry and enjoy , life is too short
