It works. I wouldn't say I'm great friends with my ex-wife but enough so that I'll help her out with different things. I'm remarried and she is engaged to be married and we have a son together. It was awkward at 1st but its get better with time. Now if my son wants to hang out with me or stay with me a night or 2 or if one of us has something to do its pretty much whatever. We don't have "set" days. Thats really is a bonus for both of us. Just be there for the kid! Its not there fault you guys split and never ever make the child take sides! I really hate how people use a child as collateral!

No kids involved but me and my ex get along just fine. Our relationship just kinda fizzled out over time once she moved to CO to go to school. We stayed together and did the long distance thing while she was in school. Once she graduated last June and decided she didn't want to come back to GA, things just kinda fizzled out. We really didn't have an official day we broke up. We still talk at least once a week, sometimes more. I'm going to visit her in the next month to go snowboarding. We had two dogs together so generally our conversations are about the dogs. She took one with her when she moved.

My other ex...that's a different story. I just avoid her at all costs because she's bat shit crazy. NO I'm serious...she is BATSHIT CRAZY and has some serious mental issues. I think she's a sociopath. I don't hold any grudges against her, I just don't want to associate myself with her at all.

When it comes to kids involved, I think you and your ex should tolerate each other you dont have to be necessarily friends if the friendship doesnt work out, but you need to at least be able to tolerate one another for the kid when you two are around your child.

    Does Plasti-Dip count as a mod ?
No kids involved. My last wife and I talk occasionally. No hard feelings, but we aren't 'friends' either. First wife.... couldn't care less. Ex-girlfriends don't exist to me.
So, it could work, given the right circumstances.
