Ceramic coatings are great. Ceramic coatings from the dealership are a joke.
If you want it done right, go to a local reputable automotive detailer.

Never trust dealer add-ons. My dealer wanted $1600 for a front clear wrap on my truck, but it was only a partial wrap (partial hood and fenders), using awful out-of-date 3M. I got a complete front wrap using the latest Suntek film for $2k from a legit wrap shop, which covered the whole front of the truck, including the A-Pillars and roofline.

I can guarantee you they will overcharge you for inferior work using cheaper product if you get a ceramic coating from the dealership. If you really want to go through with it, I would ask them who performs the work for them, and which ceramic coating they use. If they are unwilling to provide this, walk away.

Don't waste your money. All of these products are just another layer of crud on top of your paint that will oxidize and look terrible.
Paint is it's own protective coating

This is factually incorrect on multiple levels.

Ceramic and Graphene coatings are amazing. I've seen bird shit bead up on my wife's vehicle that has the same Adam's Ceramic Coating that my Tacoma has on it. Cleaning is so much easier and the gloss is amazing. I do all the glass and plastics too.

Bird poop, and buy spatters use to leave an embedded stain in the clear coat of my tundra, not to mention all paint chips from stones. With the ceramic glass coat that was applied bird chit and bug spatters just wipe off days later with a wet rag, or spraying them with the garden hose. Not one paint chip yet either. You could even see where a black car door hit my truck in a parking lot.....with some elbow grease it rubbed right off. Totally sold on this stuff.

$800 for a ceramic coating is cheap, how many layers are they putting on and what kind of warranty does it have? I had my truck done by ceramic pro, it has 9 layers and a top coat. Life time warranty as long as I take it back once a year to get it re top coated if not then a 5 year warranty. Cost me about $1400 and that was with a $500 discount as I have PPF on half my truck and paid cash. They had my truck for 3 days to do paint correcting, install the coating and cure the coating.

There's a "Overflow Express Wash" place in my hometown that offers their premium wash "Ceramic & Shine" for $25.
    https://www.overflowexpresswash.com/
I was skeptical until I tried it. Best $25 I've spent.

That's the difference between having it done by a professional detailer and the pimple faced kid the dealership hired yesterday that is now their expert paint protection technician.

I got the Simoniz Glasscoat on my 16 from the dealer. They wanted 800 but I got it down to 530. I did not expect it to be a great coating, I really just wanted the lifetime warranty on environmental damage to the paint and stains to the interior.

Not sure how good of a job they did applying it 5+ years ago, but I do have hard water stains on my hood. I figure when the truck hits 10 years old I'll start that process.

That was the same price it cost me within a few dollars for the glass coat.....they originally wanted $650, but the dealer gave me a discount. I too liked their lifetime warranty, but the only question is...it mine or theirs?
As far as these ceramic detail sprays and wash's, imo their a joke...you'd be lucky to get a year's protection.

Dealers will use the absolutely lowest cost product and for sure farm out the work. It is simply a high profit accessory sale at this point.

Save your $$, avoid the middleman and get it done at a local shop by an expert. You will see its not a one size fits all product.

Really depends on the shop doing the work. When they did my truck it was at the toyota dealers body shop where i bought the truck. They have their own simonize franchise so the work was done in house by their own simonized trained techs. Not all local shops use the same products either. Imo, buyer beware.

The dealer add does say "Diamond Ceramic"...must be really hard and shiny:) Use TW Ceramic spray twice a year and for $16, your paint will shine and be easy to clean. Use the other $784 and get a tune and Sumo front bump stops:)

No money, all went to truck...
ceramic coatings are the real deal. Graphene is taking its place.

I would look into the actual product that is being applied. There is wide variety of longevity and quality among the brands. If it's a legit brand and being installed by a professional, $800 is not a bad price.

If it’s just the ceramic coating, then absolutely not. I opted for my dealerships ceramic coating because it was part of a package that repaired scratches, dents, interior mishaps, etc over a six year period. It might even be for as long as I am the owner.

without this incentive I would’ve just done it myself.
