So I went to the dealership this morning. I had an appointment set up for 2 weeks now. I called and made sure my leafs were under recall, they were. So I get over to the dealership, I sit there for 2 hours and the service guy asks me who inspected them because they're not broken. I told him that they were and I would show him. I showed him and he said that was the AAL. And we argued about it for a second. I bought the truck from my dad and he had put a leveling kit on it. So I called the place who installed it and they said their computer system only showed front suspension leveling kit done??? I just need help figuring out what you guys think. If it's the AAL or Toyota springs.

So does it look like an AAL was installed? I'm pretty dumb as far as leaf springs go

    That's what I wondered? It's definitely a different color!

    Too few to list.
The broken leaf looks like an add a leaf to me though can't tell for sure as no pics of the edges. Most likely AAL though as you have longer u-bolts indicating some work done.

Maybe ask your dad if he put on a aal or if he had the tsb leaf pack put on from a dealer.

I asked him and he said he just went to les schwab and asked for a 3" lift. I dunno what the hell, It kinda seems like it's an AAL just because of the color difference.

To me, it looks to be an AAL. The color difference alongside the thickness gives it away. The 4-leaf pack would most likely maintain the same color tone as the others.

Don't mind that, I just got back from flagstaff scouting for elk and it was a muddy mess. Haven't had a chance to give her a good bath yet

Ok my next question is, what would be the best replacement AAL one that's not going to break. I've looked into the icon and read quite a bit about it. What's everyone else run?

A new AAL that would be the best replacement is a new leaf pack. The stock leafs aren't the greatest, so I would try and find a replacement for them. If you just want to get the ride height back from the AAL, consider air bags.

Or just get another AAL from wheelers. The 1.5" ought to do well. $77.50 and install it yourself. There's a great write up on this. I just did mine this weekend and both sides took a little under two hours.

In any case, doesn't the TSB involve another leaf for a total of 4 leafs? I'm sure my truck has a 4 leaf pack. If the OPs truck had the TSB done he would have a total of 5 leafs incl the AAL his father did.

That said, kylenowad is right, the dealer won't touch it. As far as trey're concerned their part didn't fail.

The way I see it OP is you have two choices. Return the leaf pack to stock and have the TSB applied then put in a new AAL. Seems like a lot of trouble especially since the dealership might say it's fine, TSB need not be applied. OR save yourself the headache and buy a third party leaf pack.

I guess option 3 would be as others have mentioned, just get a new AAL and be done with it.

Sounds like you want to have the TSB done though....

I think it rides very smooth. I had the 2+1 leaf pack, so I'm assuming it's a little smoother than the 3+1 with an AAL.

i will say this before and I will say it again...get to your local leaf spring shop and they will build you what you want, and cheaper than mail order.

That's good to hear. I just got the 3+1 with the frame swap. I've heard a lot of guys say that they ride rough, maybe that's the difference.

I'm not sure if you haul a lot, but the progressive AAL reduces your payload because you're supposed to remove the overload spring, but rides much smoother. Another option is the skyjacker soft ride. Never used them, but it's what they claim.
