Yeah, They would not to specially badge a truck for all to see and then have the frame rust out :D

^The standard dealer rustproofing is applied to the body and rocker panels. The frame will still rust.

Perhaps I expect and get outstanding service from the same dealer because I don't try to get his "last nickel" - I expect and get a competitive price, but for me a couple of hundred bucks either way on a 35K purchase is not a deal breaker. I'm as picky or anal as the next guy when I comes to my vehicles (and I have four), but I expect and am treated as a valuable customer both when buying and servicing my cars. It's a nice feeling considering how emotional some folks are, including myself, when it comes to their vehicles.

^Most dealerships have separate sales and service depts with separate management and separate agendas. Hell, when you add accessories like a tonneau or remote start at the time of purchase, the dealer outsources the truck to a 3rd-party independent shop rather than use its own service dept.

Your service experience won't suffer because you hammered out the last nickel when buying the truck. The service dept won't treat you any differently if you bought the truck at the same dealer or another place - they make money on the service appointment either way.

My dealer turned the seatbelt chime off for free and also disabled the lock/unlock beep at the same time. Seems shady that they are charging you for something that is in the manual as an option.

I think you got lucky....A tech has to work (even if it's 5 minutes)-Why shouldn't there be a cost associated with that? Now 100 bucks is high, but it's also the way automotive service works...so until someone can change an entire industry - Kinda the way it is.

I agree with ALL you said - but let me add my opinion.

    I'd have no complaints for a $25 dollar charge (even if it took 10 minutes - it's still $ 150 an hour ! ). I'd even pay $50 ($300 an hour) since It's still not a lot of Green. But $100 - that's $600 an hour and I'm sorry - No Friggin way - that's a rip off.

You just bought a brand new truck from them. They should happily do this minor courtesy for you.

Sounds like they don't really appreciate your business.

I agree with you Brune, I do think I got lucky. I wouldn't have had a problem had they charged a reasonable fee, but I was happy with free. :) It's stuff like this that will keep me coming back to that dealership.

It literally took the tech 10 min or less to do this, 100 bucks seems horribly expensive.

Edit: I already had my truck in the shop for my "free" Toyota Care oil change, they turned off the seatbelt beep, etc. after the oil change was complete.

That is why I bought a cheap knockoff OBD2 Connector and Techstream Software from China for 35$. Works great.

^this... In the meantime just ask to see the gm. He/she will usually fix any customer relations problem you are having. Especially this minor, they don't want to deal with it and for something as quick as a 10 min fix it is easier for them to pick up the phone and resolve your issue then to get involved. You may not even make it that far, some manager along the way will probably resolve it first.
