Hey y'all, I really love retrofit headlights with halo LEDs, but they really look ugly when they're not on though. I designed some 3d printed housings and lenses for 80mm diode dynamics halos with the idea of having them be much more subdued when turned off without affecting light output. They'll fit the stock Tacoma headlight projectors perfectly. They turned out pretty sweet I think!

I have two pairs that I printed as prototypes that I thought I'd see if anyone had any interest in purchasing. Really just trying to recoup material costs with these. Selling each pair for $100 which includes lens, plastic housing, and 2 80mm diode dynamics switchback halos, and shipping to US. The switchbacks themselves cost $100 so that's a steal.

The lenses are SLA printed Accura 60 resin, and have been coated with a UV resistant clear coat and lightly smoked. The plastic is made from MJF printed nylon PA12 that have been sanded primed and painted matte black. Info on the diode switchbacks here, very high quality.

Take a look, let me know what you think! Trying to gauge interest in these from the community as well since I know they're kind of a niche part. Light output is pretty dim to make them easier to photograph, anyone who's familiar with diode knows how bright and high quality the LEDs are.

Here's a comparison for how much more subdued they look compared to the white coating they come with from the factory. Much more sleek!

That's pretty badass. I'd talk to some of the guys that do custom headlights on the forum. If I didn't have mine done already I would have loved adding these to my headlight setup

Whats the profile of the 3d part look like on the housing?

Or could you print it out so the circled part is flush with the oem line?

It should be flush, I just kinda hung it there to give a general idea of what it would look like from the front. There are 6 posts on the underside to use for mounting so it kinda looks off since I haven't drilled the holes in my own housings yet. Here's a side view

Interesting….what would your price point be at without the Diode Dynamics halos?
Just trying to see what the price difference would be between these and the Profile Smoke Rings. The white halo look when they were off was always an issue with me. I went with the smoke rings since they were my only option at the time I did my retrofit. But would always look to support TW members if the price and product were equal or better.

Ah interesting I didn't know that Profile was making those! Those are pretty slick. These cost $60/pair to print out from Shapeways so if I can get around that much I would be happy.

Honestly I'd prefer to sell them with the Diodes since I made them to fit those specifically and can't guarantee fitment for Profile or other brands.

I'm actually using the Profile Smoke Rings with the Diode Dynamics 80mm halos. The quality and functionality of DD halos compared to Profile is night and day. I see with your version, the halos don't have the white coating that hides the LEDs. I don't like the white coating, but it does give the halos a more unified look since it hides the individual LEDs. I think if you could darken the tint more to hide the LEDs it would look better.

Agreed, no one can beat Diode.

Tint can be darkened as much as you want, I just used a lens tint spray and went with a light smoke to avoid reducing light output while making the resin have less of a white look to it from angles.
