I have a new 2018 TRD Pro that I want to put a steel front bumper and a winch on. I want to add a bumper that does not interfere with the sensors already in the truck. I have been told I have to go with a lo-pro bumper similar to the C4fab pictured below. Is this the best option? I really like the Honey badger bumper from Addictive Desert Designs, but I am being told that will cause issues with the sensors. I am looking for any recommendations. Thank you in advance.

Haven’t heard of this issue. Not sure what sensors a full after market bumper would interfere with. The sensors are in the grill and on the windshield.

Rear after market bumpers are a different story. BSM and backup camera will require mod. And I suggest an aluminum lo-pro and a winch w/ synthetic line. Don’t want that front end sagging.

I think the hoop looks lame anyway. And not sure how most will hold up w/ impact.
Most hoops and bull bars look like they are right in the way of the grill sensor.

I agree I would do the bumper without the bullbar (hoop). I admit I do not know the specifics on the sensors coming from a 1999 tacoma to the new pro that is why I am asking. I will do more research into the sensor locations. If there are no sensors in the bumper then that is awesome. I am just going off what the dealer told me and one local after market shop. Thank you again.

If you find out more info please post. I won’t be buying new front bumper until I do more research as well. Rear bumper is tough because the bumpers that support BSM have to compromise and look wayyyyyy too chunky.

with the Addictive Desert Designs bumper your cuts have to be on-spot. This however is not the case with the Pelfreybilt bumpers. I wouldn't go aluminum, someone on here got winched out and the aluminum standoff where it mounts to the frame bent out. That is what made me change my mind back to steel.

    just my 0.02 cents

No issue with the sensor with the avid bumper guard. Even with the pro grill and the lower sensor. Everything works the same.

For the grill, some manufactures are making a sensor attachement. You just need to ask them if they are.

    Pelfreybilt I believe, 0.250" aluminum.

    Copy that.
    Thanks for the heads up.
I went with all steel skids.
Looks like I’ll have to do the same with bumpers!

It took forever, but I finally got definitive answers that I can do the full steel front bumper. The front bumper causes no conflict with the toyota sense and other tech within the truck
