I've been thinking about buying a new front bumper. the OEM bumper on there already moves around when you push it. My only concern is if theres a front collision, does it negatively affect the crumple process? is it safer or worse?

Arb is tested and strives to maintain safety specs. Expensive and a lot of people think they’re ugly though

    Lots of factors here.

In just about every on-road situation, the driver and passengers will be safest in a stock vehicle. The "downside" is the vehicle can be totaled easier. There will be debate about steel bumpers being worse on the frame in a collision and that can definitely be true. At lower speed impacts with things like medium sized wildlife and trees and such, a steel bumper is king.

Smaller impacts that won't pose any risk to the driver, steel bumper helps the truck. Bigger impacts, the steel bumper will effect crumple zones and transmit more forces into the driver.

Pro's and con's....everyone's opinion and desires will be different. I drove my truck off the road and thru a guard rail into the trees in the snow at 30mph and hit a 12" tree dead on. My bumper took it dead on and I was safe (although no airbag deployment which is sus) and the bumper folded back and wrecked the fenders and core support but the frame was safe. Might have been different if it wasn't a dead on hit front and center.IMG_9938.png IMG_9939.png IMG_9940.png
