Would it be possible to mount an aluminum front bumper with a winch while still on stock OR suspension? Or is it enough weight I need to upgrade suspension? Looking at CBI. Currently I am running 255 skinnys but may go to 265/75/16 to avoid the clearance issue if I put on extra weight.

I would bet my truck you’d be fine with an aluminum bumper on stock suspension

I think you’re going to see something coming from the guys at @upTOPoverland in regards to this. It won’t be like traditional sliders.. it’s more like body protection.... pretty slick stuff if you ask me... and I’ve seen these guys go wheeling. They go on some pretty rough trails. Currently they’re in MOAB- I’m stoked to see how they hold up

Just order an Aluminum Tacoma Baja front bumper with Center Hoop from Demello Off Road. Place the order with State 48 Overland, Erik hooked me up. Can’t wait to get the bumper installed.

Those of you with an aluminum front bumper and winch....what rated spring rate are you going with? 650# or 700#

I went with 650# springs with Bilstein 6112’s on the 2nd notch.

IIRC they are 14” springs. I have a 9500lb winch.

I’m sticking with 650# spring rate. The consensus is from most people, 650# spring rate is more then enough:thumbsup:

So what is the recommended/typical setup that guys are running in order to justify 700# springs.
Would an aluminum bumper, 10k winch, steel ifs and mid skids warrant a 700#?
I’m torn about which spring to toss under there.

    currently have 650, 13inch icons.

Going tothrow on the items listed above, not sure what to do for springs.

Ideally want zero loss in height,(slight gain without harshing the ride through preload would be nice)

considering going from the 650/13’’ to 700/14’’...
    Is that overkill?

Yes that's enough weight for 700#

Yes go with 700# 14" springs

    Thanks for the assist.
Oh and LCA Skids, a lot heavier than I anticipated; but since they sit that low and technically as part of the LCA’s, would they impact suspension?

No, I think weigh in at around 24lbs. I mean
In terms of effecting ride (if at all)because they’re part of the LCA’s.
Not really the weight I’m concerned with but the question is more in regards to the placement of the weight.
