I'm a bit confused... which steelies?!

I'm looking to buy a set of 16" steelies/studded tires for my 3rd gen Tacoma to use for winter. I can only find the OEM spare steelies for about $105 new, local stealership wants $205 new! I believe I can get used/refurbished 1st or 2nd gen Tacoma steelies for about $55-$60 each. Having a very difficult time finding used 3rd gen steelies...

My confusion is with which steel rim will work best for my 3rd gen Tacoma? Will any of the earlier 16" x 7" OEM steel rims fit? Do they all have different backspacing?! Folks with 3rd gen Tacomas and steel rims, which ones did you end up going with and why? Oh, and I'm not interested in running caps or buying a set of 17" FJ steelies.

I could give you my old ones if you want to drive north, Port Angeles WA, they came off a 2016 SR acess cab 4x2 4 cylinder.

I really appreciate your offer, but I'm actually searching for the black 16 hole steelies. I should have been more specific in my previous post. Thanks though!

Here ya go! I ended up buying 4 stock steelies from my local dealer. Brought the rims over to Discount Tire and had them mount up a set of Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs with studs in 265/75/16. Had 'em installed this morning, they ride great so far...

Local stealership quoted my $203 each.

I came back the next day with three different internet quotes for the same rims from other dealerships. Prices were between $94 to $109 per rim. They 'price matched'... sorta. Offered me $125 per wheel, they arrived the next morning and I didn't have to pay for shipping. Works for me.

Has anyone seen a silver 16 hole steelies mounted? I have a black taco and love steelies, not sold on black on black for myself.

steelies arent meant to be driven on daily. they are meant to be used for emergency purposes, so I wouldn't feel safe driving around with 4 steelies. but to each it's own. its your truck, you can put plastic hub caps on them too!

Ive ran for mine for almost a year as a daily driver and every other weekend I'm up in the mountains wheeling. No issues yet other than a few scrapes. I plan on touching these wheels up soon with semi gloss paint when the weather gets better.

Well i know wheels go different types of testing to see the strength and quality of the rim. I don't think steelies go through that type of testing (or maybe they do?). either way, theres always the hellaflush civics that run those diamond racing steelies. Those might be a better option imo than running a spare tire lol.

The exact same part numbers were offered on the 1st Gen Tundra base model trucks as all four wheels and the spare rim were the same. They are absolutely road worthy regular wheels just made of steel.

People want steel rims? I’ve switched over to alloy fj rims and been trying to sell my steel rims for 200 but no one wants them.

Just came across this thread and steelies all the way. I run mine with 1.25 spacers on 285’s I’m always up the mountain and haul lots so if I get a flat my spare matches and don’t gotta worry. I was hesitant to run them but after I did the lift and slapped them on it turned out great. Much better than the stock sport wheels, a before and after.2BE950B9-FC02-42C0-A50A-A4F4E5E54677.jpg BDD68A2E-25B7-4B20-BF9B-0B3B5D1BEBC5.jpg
