    I've searched and I couldn't find a thing, so...

What steelies are you running with your tundra brake upgrade?

I like the steelie look, but I also like the tundra brake upgrade option.

    Thank you for your time...

Correct. But did they make different steelies for the 1st gens?

    OME and worth every penny.
I would think Tundra steelies would work.

I’m pretty sure the back spacing and offsets are the same but the face of the wheel looks different between the newer and older years.

I think I have a picture somewhere I’ll go look.

Here you go - I did the same thing for a while. Steelie detail at the bottom of the post. What you want are first gen 16" steelies (from 01-04), not second gen steelies (which have more / too much backspacing).

New-to-me tires and Tundra Brake Upgrade

Some also have an oval by the tire stem, like mine do. These are 16x7. Tire is BFG KM2 in 255/85/16.

Yep, noted that in my linked post above. The ones with an oval are 2nd gen spares, and won't fit a first gen with Tundra brakes (to my knowledge) due to backspacing, which was OP's question.

Just fyi - 95-00 used 15" steel spares; they only went to 16" for 01-04 ...and of course second gen (but those don't fit).

Really? Mine's a 15" and our factory wheels were 15" as well. Seems a bit strange that you have a bigger spare. You sure it's factory?

As far as I know, I don’t know why someone would change that.

@mechanicjon was unlucky enough to track my 4 down. Maybe he can spread some knowledge.

My 95.5,96,97 & 98 all had 15" spares. For wheels I would think you have few options in different sizes.

    96-00ish 4runner 16" steelies
    any first gen tundra 16"
    Fj 17" spare steel

I have a set of 01 tundra styled steel wheels (twisted star 5 spoke style) and they have a metric ton of caliper clearance with the way the spokes curve out. Here is a old pic I have of them in my gallery, I use them as rollers all the time since they clear so many different brakes. (I have them on a 99 parts truck sierra right now)

If you had the optional 16inch wheels the spare was 16 also. His are dated pre 1999 wheels.

Everyone thank you very much for all the info. Time to educate myself...

Thank you and I'll dig into this

Soooooo sexy. I love the KM2's (I ran them on my wrangler) But, those Cooper STT Maxx excite me. I first came across them on @Freeflight7 truck and I liked the setup.

Did they have 16" optional wheels pre-01? Can you point me at some, 'cause I'm curious?

I got the TRD alloy wheels on my 2000 (I believe the "highest end" wheel at the time) and they were 15". At any rate, his spare turned out to be 15" as well so... (gray mine)

I've seen that posted on other sites as well. Not sure I believe it though - I think that might be internet mis-information...

Here's the parts list for 95-00, and here's the parts listed for wheels here (toyota parts center):
    upload_2018-5-2_13-47-26.jpg upload_2018-5-2_13-50-4.jpg

...still seem to me like 16" came along with the 01-04's (parts list), (toyota parts center)

All i now is the wheels @JKO1998 has are dated pre 1999 with a stamp. Maybe they're Tundra steelies. But my guy said the were from Tacoma's.

    Ahh T100's
