My battery died recently and after attempting and failing to jump it w/ a smaller car, i successfully jumped it with another truck.

Ever since, my dash is lit up with alerts: lane departure alert malf, headlight system, vehicle stability, pre-collision malf.

The dealer wanted $200 just to diagnose, so i went to another mechanic, and they determined my steering angle sensor is shot and if i fix that it will resolve the other error codes. I included a pic of the scanner results.

Is it possible my dad battery / jump broke my steering angle sensor? Or is it just a weird electrical glitch that needs somehow reset?

I’m just hoping someone one here has advice if I should just replace the steering angle sensor (not cheap), or try getting help fixing the electrical issue?

    Thanks!

Yes, it sucks. I've replaced many, including my mother in laws. It's an unfortunate thing that happens when the battery is boosted.

Steering angle sensor needs to be replaced and calibrated.

    Recently?
that printout is dated june 19th, it's been more than a few weeks.
If they determined that the sensor is 100% fried then yes, replace it and you'll find out then if that resolves the other issues.

Lol your attention to detail! Yeah, the mechanic said i’m safe driving and that i need to order the part myself since they didnt have one in stock or from their supplier. So… now i’ll start shopping for one. Lmk if you have suggestions for parts suppliers! If you can’t tell, I’m not exactly a car guy .

I don't have any suggestions for parts suppliers but there are plenty of people on here who might chime in with good info.

This happened to me too, replaced myself but don’t recall a need to calibrate

don’t get aftermarket sensor unless you want to gamble and do it all over again. I went oem and it really isn’t hard but definitely mark the spline/wheel/nut for reassembly.

You check fuses? Dig you jumped the battery correctly? Positive to positive, negative to your vehicle’s ground? No wait last minute, until battery dies, usually around 4 years to replace battery.
