Curious if anyone else has had this and any ideas what it is.

2sec and 6sec in you can hear it. sorry about the jacket noise.

I would pull the skid and get under and check normally but its -20C with the windchill right now and fuck that lol.

I only hear this when stationary going from full lock to full lock the other way.
I would go to the dealer but don't want to waste time with
'Cant replicate symptoms' or 'Normal operation'

I'm assuming there's something in the rack thats moving and possibly contacting but not sure. I don't hear it when driving but that could just be because its muffled by engine noise or other road noise.

Not sure if this is the issue, but Toyotas are infamous for their 'intermediate steering coupler' going bad. Many different models have that issue.

Most likely it's the outer tie rod ends. If it warms up any.... stick a Jack under the front end and then move /turn the tire... if any play as it starts off.

shitty fact I know dealer will say its because of off roading so wont warranty it but could try if that is the case.

only reason I don't think its the outter tie rods is because I can feel it in the floor

Go figure it stopped doing it now but was just at costco and thats when I noticed it in the parking lot and it continually did it there, and when I got home and was pumping gas. But of course now it stops.

My guess is you are on different surfaces trying to replicate it.... the costco has the right surface to grab the tire more upon turning it.

No i was doing it in my driveway when I filmed that and figured take off my jacket so its not as noisy when turning and of course it stopped

its been making noise since the summer but only once in a while. This is the first time it was consistently making noise.

That's not the tie rod ends. Sounds like the rack or something is binding and then making the popping, banging sound.

My 2nd gen does the same thing to a lesser extent. "Unable to replicate", I physically had to go to the dealer and show their mentally challenged tech what the noise was even after explaining it in depth. They called it "loose running boards" and I got angery and it just does that now.
