Theres a sharp "clunk" sound that happens when I start the truck up 25% of the time and present when I turn the steering wheel alot to the left or right. Best guess is it's the steering shaft as I hear it coming from the driver's side. From what I've read, it would be a good idea to check the two bolts that secure the steering column to the dashboard support bracket but I doubt it's that....there's a serrated looking round ring/clip that might be the culprit or the rack itself? I'm unable to do the work on the truck myself, so I'm hoping to avoid just throwing parts at it. My truck is a 2006 4x2 6 lugger and I'm trying to avoid what happened with the drive shaft.... in that particular case.. it would of been cheaper to just get a whole new driveline in it's entirety. I do have a relative that might be able to help me......but it's gotta be a non complicated thing to work on and fix.

Ugh, has anyone had this happen? Under the hood on the driver's side, what looks like power steering fluid overspray? I strongly suspect the power steering rack going out plus that round/clip bushing needing to be replaced. Any advice as I'm gonna have to brave it and look for a new shop to work with as I'm in a new town.
