Agree'd, to the naked eye they look the same. It does feel much better though. I took the truck on the same washboard dirt road as before and the vibration was almost non existent. The remaining vibration may be from my tires or suspension, who knows. Guess I'll give it 100 miles or so before another  for Toyota.

Yeah, it appears they just kept the same design and reduced the clearance between the rubber damper and the shaft. Guess we will see....

All I see is that they added a thin bushing to reduce the slop between the lower shaft tip and the u-joint lower yoke.

That'll reduce deflection, but I wonder how long it'll last before it cracks out.

It looks like plastic. Can you tell if it's plastic or metal?

That's actually no different then the current bushing. They appear to be made from viton. Just looks liek they decreased the clearance.

No, that's the donut. I mean this thing, which appears to be nylon in the photo:
    bushg_359bbd41436b5b37cd62c59ad0e122ed727a7d93.jpg

Now if the hole in the rubber (viton?) donut has been reduced, then they may also have incorporated a stiffer rubber there, which would definately help.

The green thing you are pointing at is what I am talking about. That is a viton rubber sleeve. That is the joint where the problem is. I suspect by looking at the pictures that they reduced the clearance at that joint.

    OK, an improvement how?

    The rattle is gone, so...

Is the "rubbery" feel gone from the steering? Does it feel more direct and accurate on the freeway?

    Less tendency to wander?

    Anything else?
