Update: took a week for the dealer to get the parts and have them installed. Don't know what exactly what was done as I'm too lazy right now to pull the linkage shroud. Maybe they just put my zip-ties back in but so far it seems a lot better, much less play, haven't heard/flet the clunking yet on washboard surfaces... fingers crossed.

I noticed crazy shaking/vibrations from my steering wheel/column out on the dirt. Just thought the shocks weren't that great which is another reason why I got the 5100s. I am still getting the same shaking though. I will explain that to Toyota when I go in there regarding this issue. They better not give me some shit about me having aftermarket shocks on there. If theres a TSB for it, they should do it. My service advisor is cool so I don't think it'd be a problem.

I will keep you guys posted.

EDIT - would they have to redo your alignment after this??

No alignment required. Make sure your steering wheel is strait though.

big improvement. finally took the truck out on some bumpy "trails" down at the beach after getting this done. no more knocking, no more play in the steering.

I'm stoked that there's a TSB for this, but just from the phone call to the dealership it's looking like I'm in for a fight. Anyone do the fix-it-yourself and then get the TSB who could judge if the fix it yourself is just as good? Or is the TSB worth the trouble?

I'd wrench for two hours just to avoid having to deal with those people at Toyota who think everyone other than themselves is stupid.

I tried the one other place in our area, and they sounded similar. Going today, we'll see...

I had the TSB applied to my truck about a month ago, sadly this was just after I completed a 100 mile off-road journey in the Mohave desert. I have not been able to offroad since getting the new part in. Based on the comments from others having the warranty work done I am optimistic that it will work for me as well.

They've been really reluctant to perform any tsb service for me so far, and the phone call indicated the same sort of attitude. Sort of "oh, really, well I don't belive you..." from the service writer. But I went yesterday and the tech felt it and they've ordered the parts. Interesting that my tires were dirty after, but they only drove it 1mi, and at least they looked hard enough to see the problem. So it'll go in next week...

Thanks for all the info, everyone!

Anyone tried to order this from a dealer in Canada and have a price to share? Just curious if it is even worth my time talking to the local parts desk.

    Thanks.
