just did the zip tie fix. I THINK it has fixed the rattle but the road test was too short to be 100% sure, but looks good...

    Ah.......my 2012 is doing this:mad:
I cant reproduce it in the city, small bumps does not set it off.
But while I was hunting it reared it's ugly head. Clunk/rattle you can feel right through the steering column on a nasty rock filled rough road. I can actually feel it through my feet sometimes as well, all drivers side.

Kind of a WTF moment for me considering it had 3500km on it LOL.

Taking it in on Fri. Just got off the phone with the service manager. Very nice women, I enjoyed talking with her. Spoke to me and not down to me if you know what I mean.

FYI the new Canadian TSB# is 3751, replaced the old one.

Had mine on 2012 DC OR done 2 weeks ago, then tested on dirt road when going dirt biking last week. Much better than before repair when on same dirt road. Problem much reduced.

Repair order says new part # = 4522004020

    Warranty covered.

In the last 4 months I have had my 2011 in 2 different dealerships and they both told me that since they can't reproduce the issue, they won't fix anything. This makes a total of 3 dealerships. Tomorrow I am going to one more dealership before contacting Toyota HQ......

I went to the dealership today and a tech finally agreed with me that something is going on in the steering shaft on rough roads. The parts were put on order and will be installed as soon as they arrive.
There is a new TSB out there now that covers 05-12 Tacomas. It is TSB 0057-12.

I got the TSB completed today. No charge at all and I can definately tell a difference on rough roads. I tested it out several times on the way home.

Can anybody tell me if an 07 with 130 000km would fall into the canadian tsb? or would dealer right it off as normal wear n tear? anyone pay to have it fixed? starting to notice it more, even on small bumps.

I want to do the tsb fix on my truck. I did the zip tie mod but I want to make sure the tab will solve the sloppy feel if the steering wheel while driving on the street. I have a CAMBURG lift spindle on my truck. Would that make the steering feel sloppy on reg roads? I am still have a little bit of chatter on a dirt road but not as much as I did before I did the zip tie.

    I just had this done.

It does feels better on the Highway:

i.e. it does feel more direct and accurate with less tendency to wander, especially over bumps or an uneven surface on the Highway.

BUT now I have a "rubbing" feeling through the steering wheel, it feels like it's coming from the motor?

This was a replacement intermediate shaft from Toyota. They did it for free after i referenced the TSB and safety concerns. I have since removed the plastic bushing and welded the shaft. That got rid of the vibrations and knocking for good.
