I've seen them cover TSBs beyond standard warranty period (although my experience is 10-15 years old). I'd give them a call, talk to a service manager, and have the TSB number handy. Won't hurt to ask.

In my 2015 I recently noticed a slight rattle noise coming from the steering wheel, it happens whenever I'm driving pretty often, more so noticeable at 40mph but it has happened at all speeds. Is this indicative of the steering column rattle that everyone else is experiencing or something different? I've read different descriptions on this thread and just want to make sure. I also get a slight clunking noise that I hear coming from the front of the truck at lower speeds when turning

I covered my window seal rattle and now this new one popped up almost immediatey. It sounds like a pebble or screw is rattling within the steering wheel.. is this related to the TSB?

The OP's link is gone... are TBS's only active for some time and then Toyota cancels them?
Asking because I have a 2007 with 180k and hearing a pop in the cabin when turning.

TSB is only good for the free fix during the standard warranty 3 years or 36 K Miles. AFter that you pay for the repairs.

Dredging this tread from the depths.. I have the clunk when offroading in my 13. Would this tsb fix it or do newer models already have this from the factory?

No, oddly enough some TSB parts are not put in later production trucks for some reason. The steering intermediate shaft being one of them. If you look at the parts manuals it defaults to the old xxxxx-04010 number and you have to specifically request the 04020 part or you will get the old shaft.

a question i have is i asked the parts desk guy if he could tell me the difference between the 04010 and the new 04020, and he told new it would be the dealership price gamble. so i’m kinda hesitant to buy the part not knowing if it’s been improved.

do you have anything to share on the new and improved 04020?

I just learned about this TSB after seeing this thread. I guess I might have missed the acceptable timeline on this one to get the dealer to do the fix for free. Of course I’ll call my local dealer and try anyway. I now have over 200K on the truck so…

Ok, the dealership said they wouldn’t cover it as my trucks Milage exceeded the allowed amount and it would cost $814.17 + Tax to fix.
