I went to take out my steering column to do the steering weld mod and i couldn't get it out. It seems like the older 95-97 models have this for the steering column assembly instead of the new one w/ the two allen bolts on the sides.

i got pretty much everything out and it was ready then i got stuck on removing these bolt things. Anyone know how to remove them?

I added the info, including some FSM grabs, to the end of "post 42" in the TTORA thread It's mostly direct from the 95.5 FSM.

Thank you sir. I think you would have to take the whole assembly out to get a slide hammer on there. Hmm now I have to do it.

I was thinking the "shortcut" would be if the slide hammer action could be done with the tube in place or maybe "loose" and hanging down a bit. Or the removal of one or both of the snap rings. I don't have the real thing in front of me to play with.
    Post up what you find.

If I don't get to it this week I will do it next week for sure, camping trip this weekend.

I will probably end up making my own slide hammer instead of buying/renting one.

I see what your saying about it coming out of the bottom..

Dang if i have to take the steering wheel off this might be quite a hassle.

Many thanks to all who've contributed to this solution. When i did it to my truck I had a hard time finding a video guide on the "easy" version of this (pulling the whole column as one piece) so I made a video of it on my channel. Hope this can help someone!
