Yeah, I can see that POV. I initially didn't do the ECU reset so I could ensure I had a clear read on the impact of cleaning the MAF alone, and did notice an immediate change, but it wasn't until I took the advice and replaced my CKP that I truly saw the differences. I was running a very rich fuel mix for several thousand miles and it was taking a toll on my exhaust. Once I got into the OBD2 data I could see my fuel trims acting pretty crazy. The vibes definitely reduced when I made this post, but replacing the CKP has made a massive difference that's still improving. I was feeling floor vibes at nearly all RPM ranges as well as the steering wheel. After cleaning my MAF and replacing my CKP, the vibes are still annoying but are only present generally around 2k in the steering wheel vs. all of the other areas where it surfaced prior.

Have you tried any fuel lubricant?
Wonder if low sulphur content in modern gas is a factor?
Wonder if Toyota designed it around Tier 2 or Tier 3 gas; Tier 3 took affect in 2017.

I couldn't detect any residue or otherwise when I inspected mine. But after cleaning it, I noticed an immediate difference in performance. It still had good and bad days in terms of performance but now, after a couple of weeks, it is consistently performing better. I still suspect my cam position sensor is bad even though my VIN is not included in the recall. There is not much explanation for the inconsistent performance of my truck. When it runs good, it runs great in my opinion and is exactly what I expect every time I drive. But when it runs poorly, it makes me want to trade it in. Knowing what it IS capable of though (on good days) keeps me hopeful that there is a legitimate problem and resolution that will encourage me to own this (my third tacoma) for many more years to come.

Plus, I was looking at my live data in the Fusion app and could tell it was idling really rough and my MAF was reading something like 45 g/s while at IDLE (should be somewhere between 3-5 depending on A/C
I don't smell it any longer after replacing CKP and I never ran anything than top tier fuel from either local stations I know / trust or from really busy (ideally new stations) / top tier when traveling.

Hmmmm, that would seem consistent with an engineering group who tried to build a truck with better emissions??
Acceleration requires/uses more fuel and a truck's catalytic converters that's aren't up to operating temperatures right after startup .. so maybe they program in the misfires to slightly retard the engine until things are warmed up and during acceleration.
I sure hope not that could explain a lot of things.

This makes a lot of sense actually... my misfires don't log as often since replacing my CKP but I still get them and it is normally soon after a cold start when accelerating.
