That's because - as has already been stated - WD-40 and PB Blaster are not long term lubricants. WD-40 is actually a Water Displacement product that happens to have some (short term) lubricating qualities. It basically evaporates over a fairly short period of time.

PB Blaster is one of a large number of Penetrating Lubricants. They're basically designed to seep down into rusted threads, then partially dissolve corrosion so that one can loosen the rusted / frozen fastener. It too evaporates in a fairly short period of time. This would explain why it worked for a short period of time in your case.

I'd recommend isolating exactly where the noise / squeak is coming from first. It might not be where you currently think it is. Once you do that, you will have a better idea what you're dealing with. If it's any kind of ball & socket (ball joint, tie rod end, etc.) joint, and it doesn't have a grease fitting (and sometimes even if it does), your only real option is to replace the part since the damage is already done.

Thanks guys for the input. Still on the hunt for the noise and will post when I find what the heck is making the noise.

Well. just got back from a 20 day trip to colorado, utah, NM, arizona. 4K miles of highway, passes and off roading later, I'm experiencing the same noise. I pin pointed the sound/vibration to the passenger tire rod. I can feel it vibrating with my hand on it. I was planning on removing the boot on the inner end (closest to engine) as I feel like this is where its coming from. Not sure what to expect... I did not see any leaking but I'm hoping is just a matter of dropping some lube in there....OP, did you find out what it was??
