So I need to replace the steering knuckle on both sides of my new 2007 Tacoma which has a long travel suspension. Dorman makes an upgraded steering knuckle and I’m wondering if I still need to weld on the gussets and if they will fit. Looks like these are cheaper than OEM steering knuckles. Anyone have any experience with this or any other ideas they can think of?

I don’t have pictures but they welded the gussets on and then cut out the backsides of the gussets to fit the oversized tires. I took it out to drive it hard to find a weak link and I believe the gussets flexing because they were cut out led to the uniball studs snapping when I hit a rock.

Don’t be, he gave me $12,000 in receipts for parts, if I have to spend $1500 to upgrade a part then I’m still way ahead in the game.

just by looking at that one pic that is posted, but it looks like the lower uni-ball has left the building and walked away from the lower arm

Zoom in on the picture and look at the top of the tire, there’s one piece of the uniball stud, Not sure where the rest went

    that bolt has sheared completely,
this why it's so important to use a torque wrench to ensure proper specs are applied

It's not obvious to me here how the steering knuckle is the culprit or why you want to upgrade them.
I run gussets on mine but I believe they are still a weak link but I'd prefer the knuckle to bend rather than getting a dose of what you're dealing with

Quick update, so allpro set the engineer that designed the system is no longer there and they can’t tell me for sure why they recommended a well on spindle gusset. So I called Camburg and they said a weld on spindle gusset can weaken the steal and they don’t recommend it. I think I’ll go with Camburgs recommendation, The shop can’t get to it until next week but I will let everybody know how it goes.
