Broke the lower uniball stud but when when the shop took the wheel off they noticed it had weld on spindle gussets that had been cut out to fit 35x12.5’s. On side of the spindle had also cracked all the way through.

I started the thread because there is very little information on steering knuckles for long travel suspension but lots of companies sell weld on spindle gussets.

Anyway, I almost feel like calling the police to report myself because I absolutely stole the truck, that sad all I bought was a hole in the ground that I’m gonna throw money into!!!

    Gotcha, thanks.
It sounds like the gussets were improperly welded. I'm only on 33's but bolted on a 35 for shits and giggles and the tire easily clears my gussets.

If you spindle isn't bent you could just grind off the old crappy gussets. The Dorman ones you linked will work but certainly are no upgrade

There really aren't any aftermarket off the shelf spindles for 4x4 Tacos. It's all custom if you wheel that hard.

And the spindle has no real bearing on the travel you can pull

Bent or tweaked gussetted spindles are fairly common. But sounds like by your description that the gusset itself has been modified in a fashion that is not recommended by any manufacturer.

Still, doesnt deter from what appears to be a sheared lower uni-ball bolt. That bolt by itself does not attach to the spindle, it attaches to the lower arm and to the uni-ball cup adapter.

I wonder if the uni-ball cup adapters are installed in the correct position..

Got it back yesterday, ended up replacing the knuckles and both lower uniballs and adding limiting straps. FWIW AllPro is not the best to deal with from my experience, i’m not saying I would write them off entirely but they may be going through a difficult time right now. Hopefully I can get out for a couple hours this Sunday and stretch its legs a little, maybe long water

You are not dealing with AllPro, they have been bought out by Trail-Gear. It is Trail-Gear that you are now dealing with.

That makes a lot of sense. The bolts on both lower ball joints were worn in a similar pattern, I think I’m going to order a few of them and make it a maintenance item every year.
