    6” rough country lift kit
I’ve been having a Gnarley steering pop for so long now. It happens at slow speed/parked turning. It’s sometimes a single pop and sometimes it’s a back to back “pop pop”.I do have a 6” rough country lift kit. I’ve changed inner/outer tie rods, ucas, steering rack bushings. I’ve even tightened down the 4 bolts that have the forward and rear cross member extensions for the lift as I’ve heard those can make popping noises. And same with the cam bolts that connect the crossmember to the Lower control arms. Literally nothing worked. It’s hard to tell exactly what area it’s coming from just by listening. Earlier today I was feeling a lot of my suspension/steering parts while I had my girl turn the wheel back and forth. I will say I felt the most feedback from the pop when I had my hand on the steering rack bushing area. I just changed those however so I don’t know how it could still be that. Any help or knowledge is appreciated as this has been ongoing for a couple of years and is only getting worse.

    slowly erasing past owner hacks
Had a pop along with many other issues on a 180k Toyota Sienna. Been 3 years (when I bought it) and NO shop or even the dealer could find this mystery popping. Had a complete set of lowers control arms installed. Worse afterward than before!

Desided to just do aĺl new loaded strut, shocks, links, both o.e.m. lower ball joints anyway. Put together all needed parts. Found and took it in to a real shop for a front end work estimate. They did a very thourough pre install inspection. They found a very loose lower arm attaching hardware from past lower arm install! That simple... While waiting for repair date the popping was gone. I still did the other front end work as it was time anyway.

    Moral of the stoty.
    * Do a once over on attaching hardware bolts and nuts first.
    * Be careful of unknown shops that may put unexpected mechanics on it (my hard to find issue root cause).
    * greif of a bad repair last longer than the joy of a cheap bill.... a good shop is usually worth more than a cheap rate delivers
