Recently my truck (09 TRD OR w/140k) has developed a rubbing sound inside the steering column while turning the wheels. It also has seemed to become a little tougher to turn the wheel. I had the intermediate shaft replaced about 18 months ago. The tightness and rubbing sound has only developed in the past few months. Just before this appeared I had my new suspension installed but it didn’t raise the front end more than an inch. The sound I’m hearing seems to be coming from the steering column itself (within the plastic area just behind the steering wheel.) any help?

If you look up on you tube how to replace the clock spring it shows how to take all the plastic parts of the column apart and put them back.
Probably something is slightly rubbing in there due to age or warpage.
If you take it all apart and look for evidence of rubbing on all the pieces you might find the culprit.
You can then sand down any hi spots so they don't rub anymore.
Plus you'll learn how to replace the clockspring, which tends to go out occasionally.
