    Hi guys,

I had the same problem with my steering in the past week discussed here http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/technical-chat/122153-stiff-steering.html and basically did the same thing here, cleaned the u-joint and then greased it with lithium grease. So far it seems to have fixed the problem for sure, steering is much more smooth.

Since I live in Canada and have winter with salt on the roads it makes sense that this would need cleaning once in a while and lubricated.

Has anyone done the same thing and has fixed their problem permanently or is this more of a temp fix? I would assume that greasing it would fix the problem since the u-join itself seems fine. Any thoughts?

There are those who say they did this and it has worked fine....then there are those who have done this and it worked fine--until it suddenly seized.

Don't mess around with trying to keep that joint going (the lower intermediate shaft). Many have replaced it and is the only known true fix. This is a safety item, now is not the time to cheap out.
