I really like those wheels. I've had some tires/wheels that are balanced right the first time and I've had vehicle that I've had to take back a couple of times. It seems to happen to everyone at some point.

Well this story has another chapter...I noticed yesterday that the vibrations weren't completely cured. This time, having given up on MORC, I went to Lex Brodie's. They said they use the road force balance and haweka adapter. They said the wheels were off by 4 ounces and the weights were staggered on one side of the wheel which is inappropriate. Lex rebalanced all four wheels and after 20 miles of highway driving at varying speeds between 50-65 mph, I don't detect any vibration. I hope this closes the book on this little adventure.

Robman I think I am having the same issue as you. Got new bfg A/Ts and at first the shimmy was horrid. Got them re-balanced and it seemed to have gone away, but I noticed it again today driving down the road... THEN it went away again. we will see if it comes back.

I was wondering about how it could be intermittent but the only thing I can think of is having two wheels equally off in balance vibrating in a way that they would cancel each other out at times. Well, I need tome more highway miles before I declare victory. I'll keep updating

This is not meant a negative reply to anyone but I think it is very interesting that the tires have to be so perfectly balance on the Tacoma. I'm not saying you are wrong, but it looks like many reputable techs balanced these wheels as they normally would for MOST vehicles and then scratch their heads. IT does sound like balancing issues - but why so picky on the Tacomas? I thinking that the frame is acting like a washboard/drum and amplifying the vibs through the frame ??? Comments???

Are these issues only with aftermarket times/wheels and spacers for wheel to fender clearance?? Perhaps the center of centrifugal force spin has moved out lateraly from the front spindle and it flexing and transmitting the vib to the frame???

I couldn't say for sure, but it does seem from the comments in this thread that using this Toyota or Haweka adapter makes all the difference for Toyota. If these vibrations were being amplified by the frame, I would expect to feel it through my seat?? (not sure) Instead, it just feels like classic tire balancing. As for me, I'm using Toyota Wheels with no spacers or lift. It's about as factory as you can get.
