Hey guys so a while back I hit a deer with caused my dang air bag to go off. It's driving me crazy seeing it like this, I tried super glue and tape. Of course it didn't work. Has anyone had this same issue and what do you guys recommend I do? New steering wheels with air bags are like 300 bucks sadly. My cruise control does work still. Was thinking of trying to take it off and maybe stitch it together.

Is that something a salvage yard would sell?

Hmmm yah possibly, kinda spooky dealing with 20 year old Air bags though, I've always heard you have to be damn careful withh them. But here in Colorado Tacomas in salvage yards are so rare for some reason. Maybe because they never die

Run into the same thing in Central TX, used to spend my free time at PickAPart picking parts for my Nissan Frontier and they'd have a number of Frontiers and MAYBE one Tacoma/Toyota Pickup.

Toytec coilovers. Height adjustable Bilstein's. 265/75/16 MT. TRD wheels. Rebuilt r150f. Marlin clutch kit. All kinds of new parts...
If it doesn't work just unhook the electric plug and remove the bag. For safety reasons you should probably have one of course but installing an aftermarket steering wheel would be an option as well. Plenty of options out there for that. Or - like others have said junk yard or car-part.com it.

You can buy them on ebay from salvage yards or locally. I actually might have a grey one for cheap you could have.

Oh really? That'd be awesome man, would definitely help out a lot. I'd rather get it from you over ebay or any salvage yard

After a lot of digging I found one that's the same as mine for 100 bucks. Might have to go for it, I didn't know how uncommon the 2 spoke steering wheels are.

That was awesome, could not have worked out better.

If your airbag light is still on after the replacement you may want to go by a dealer or body shop (even better) to have them scan and reset the srs system for you. It should reset everything. There is a chance if you do that they say you need a seat belt or diagnostic unit. You can always say no. Just a thought, if the light is still on.

Surprisingly the only light that stays on is the passenger airbag light, or maybe it's seat belt? The one with the person and a dot. I actually have a ecu scanner I forgot about, I might try that sucker out. But yeah I'll take it somewhere to clean it up. My baby girl has 400k and she still purrs on.
