I have an 09 Tacoma with audio controls on the steering wheel and also controls for the hands-free phone system through Bluetooth. These just stopped working. the truck has almost 400,000 miles on it so I expect for things to start falling apart but there is zero damage to anything that involves the steering wheel. I’m new here so please be easy on me.

Yeah, clock spring aka spiral cable, which I just replaced and there are plenty of tutorials out there. I got mine on eBay for $15

    Yes

It's the path for any/all electronics on the steering wheel to connect to the rest of the vehicle

OEM is expensive, some guys try their luck with aftermarket

Is this an aftermarket radio? If so, there may be a little electronics box that interfaces the str whl controls to the radio. It could have gone bad

It is usually just a ribbon cable coated in grease and loosely wapped many times around a cylinder. I tore one apart on a cherokee and soldered back the broken trace. I was going to the bitter end befoe i gave chrysler $350 for $1.50 in cable. They call it a clockspring as it probably once was that, but today there are no springs.

Thanks everyone for setting me in the right direction. I should have it tomorrow. Hopefully it’ll work. Stock radio, but it thumps so I didn’t need to replace it. Now it’s on to headlights, grill and front fender. Deer. Any suggestions on getting those cheaply?
