Has this happened to anyone? Completely random, was stopped at a signal and went to adjust the steering wheel height and came off the column and then tried to put back in and the ignition and other small parts kept coming off. I got it towed to dealer paid $1400 to repair( thought it would be a defect!) and they put the steering wheel sideways and said I have to replace column to put steering wheel back on straight. Trying to see if this happened to anyone's steering wheel or at least some insight on steering wheel assembly cuz I don't understand how all of a sudden it can't go back on straight but can come off straight with nothing broken...

That's just wrong. There is no reason why they can't get the wheel straight. I have had a previous car adjusted after a wheel alignment that caused the wheel to be off. I don't know what it involved as I did not watch them do it, but it did not take very long and they did not even charge me for it.

Now, the fact that it came off - that's a bigger concern. Glad you were not driving at the time.

That's not a truck. It's a camry or small sedan. Regardless, this should be covered under any warranty I would think!!

So your steering wheel FALLS OFF and you need to pay $1400 to fix it??? That doesn't make any sense at all to me, WTF?

Steering wheel looks attached to me.

Steering column on the other hand, seems to have released from it's mount.

    That's a 2012-2015 instrument panel.

I dunno why anybody thinks it's a Camry.

Whoa! I'd definitely call corporate about that. Hopefully, if you haven't messed with the steering wheel/column during any mods, they'll fix it for you under a good will case.
