Wait what? Your steering wheel turns? Also my clock is digital, so 06:00, 12:00 etc are all in the same place.

Yes, but notice how a 6 is an upside down 9. And 9 minus 6 is 3. If you add that 3 to the 9, you get 12... make sense now?

My wife showed me how to get the 69 to work and even a 39 or 63, but we can’t figure out a 12 yet. I’ll get her drunk and ask again. I think this completely explains OPs fingernail scratches on his steering wheel though so thanks for the great TW advice to my perplexing vex!

Idk, man. I just can figure how my knife could catch on that. I’m gonna try to make it happen.

It usually happens at the 7 to 9 o'clock point on the steering wheel... as you transition from standing to sitting and slide into the seat.

Carry a pocket knife? I have those exact same scrapes from the clip on my pocket knife rubbing when I enter the vehicle. My GTI had it too.

Ok, just read rest of thread lol.
I can get some pics of my wheel tomorrow, but it's just like yours.
    It's your knife.

When you exit the car, your right hip moves near the wheel. As you get out the knife clip catches on the wheel while getting out. Its incredible common as shown by the fact that most of the replies youve gotten are saying its from a pocket knife clip.

It’s at the top of my wheel. I park with my tires straight. I’m having trouble figuring how I could even get into position to get close with my knife. I’m gonna try though.

Ok, I think I figured it out. Definitely not my knife. I couldn’t figure out a way to make that happen.
But I think it’s from my gym bag. I carry it in the front passenger seat and grab it as I exit on my side. I must pull it across the steering wheel.
Thanks for the help sorting that out. Guess I’ll figure out a cover.

Wait, so a gym bag going over the steering wheel instead of the giant open area between the wheel and the seat is more plausible than you rubbing your knife on it while exiting the car? is your gym bag made of sharp metal? your knife when getting out is literally a inch away from the wheel, and has metal that can do that kind of mark, a mark that many of us have because of our knives.

Im going to go outside and film how this happens....

Bro, it’s on the TOP of my steering wheel. I’m not crawling over my wheel lol
If it was on the bottom of the wheel or maybe 9:00 it would be possible, but not where it is. I tried several scenarios and never got remotely close. And I tried some whacky scenarios lol.

No i get it, the mark is on the top of the wheel. Do me a favor, go turn your wheel till the mark is on the bottom... .guess what, its on the bottom now.

Your trying to come up with something thats not there.

Ok, so if I turn the wheel upside brown, then use the step to push myself up (as if I were going to climb on the roof) and slide toward the wheel as much as possible and rotate my hips up I CAN get in that position.
I’m telling you my friend, it’s not the knife. My right thigh brushes the wheel when I get in, but not my hip. It’s not even close, no matter what position the wheel is in.

Well it can be what ever you want it to be, maybe you should start putting your metal gym bag in the back of the truck.

    LS1 swap with nitros.
If these were from a knife etc, wouldn’t they be all around the wheel? Every time you park the wheel is in a different position.
