Steering wheel logo looks like shit

The chrome layer has half come off the logo on my steering wheel. I've found a black overlay on Ebay for a few bucks (https://www.ebay.com/itm/3635451099...0kBSqlTs1Yp9mCqvz502sO0lfrbfYJIMaAvLZEALw_wcB), but my concern is that if the air bag ever deploys it will launch cheap Chinese plastic shrapnel into my eyes.

Are there any other ways to make this look less crappy?

 

If you have a steady hand, you might try repainting it with model paint.

I got mine from ebay last week... Not certain who the vendor was but it took about 8 days. Looks so much better.

 

As OP noted, I’d be wary of what happens to the add-on logo during an airbag deployment. That added piece will fly/shatter somewhere.

 

The emblem cover is the least of your worries if your airbags have deployed.

 

Believe you me, the oe emblem is gonna fly somewhere also.

 

From photos I’ve seen of the OEM emblems, they don’t detach from the steering wheel cover when the airbag deploys. If they did, that’s a fast moving projectile inside the car that no auto manufacturer’s legal team would want a part of.
