I am looking for recommendations on steering wheel overlay brands. I’d rather spend a few bucks more for something I will see every day.
    TIA.

I can't even say how much I have enjoyed just some paint. It looks like it has been like that for over 50k. Haha!

    Thanks!

Just some matte black that I had lying around. Scuffed it up a bit, used some alcohol to prep, and hit it once or twice?

Cool, thanks for the info! Might have to do that myself. It’ll keep me from spending money on other mods for a few minutes at least lol

I have the MESO one in black. You’d never know it wasn’t factory. Fits perfectly and covers all of the chrome.

Meso and AJT received a Cease and Desist from Toyota so they no longer sell them.

I ordered one off eBay but it's slightly "thicker" looking than the AJT I had on my 2019.

There's a write up somewhere on how to remove the emblem, then plastic-dip. It's really easy. Search for steering wheel emblem removal. The plastic-dip holds up better and doesn't chip like paint.

Assume you removed the emblem to paint? Any pointers? Did a search and it sounded like a high risk endeavor.

I bought mine (sorry no pic) from a guy on Etsy very well made black with grey TRD much better then that chrome monstrosity it came with. Just don’t make the same mistake I did I used some light glue to apply mine should have used 3m tape. Not going to sell my truck or change mine so I’m still ok.

    You're welcome!

Cheap mods are the best mods. Haha!

Yes. I just followed what @JimmyRigged88 posted here:
I'm pretty ham fisted and didn't have any issues.

Any attempt is great to get rid of the chrome BS.

Painting is the cleaner look. I bought a red overlay from AJT, decided I didn't like it, and repainted it black. It's hard to find an overlay that doesn't look bulky. They're a little thicker and stick out a little more.

Plus it's hard to find a high quality one; as previously mentioned, as soon as one vendor gets popular Toyota will squash it. So most people can only find the hobby-garage 3D printed types.

One of these days I might pull it and properly paint the emblem.

Thanks! That was exactly my motivation for painting it. Fugly chrome just doesn't belong.

    Thanks!

The only how to that I have is in Post 12 above. Most of my attachment stems still had some of the melted nub on them, so it securely snapped back into place.
