    Who's obstinate???

I understand how they work by using a different perspective and have no problem with the layout, it makes sense to me.

You're the one who's angry because it's different and refuse to accept it. You even chastize me because I don't subscribe to your anger.

As for it being a problem for the North American market, it's the best selling mid sized truck.

    But...it's true.

The volume buttons on the wheel are horizontal just like the volume on the stereo, and the channels are vertical just like they line up on the stereo.

THERES the nerve I was poking at this morning! You guys never disappoint
I hear you! Ignoring decades of established audio control layout to match a UI makes total sense.
Reel to reel, laser discs, cassette tapes (both audio and video), CDs, DVDs, MP3s, and Blu-rays all use a left arrow to move media backward and a right arrow to move media forward. The colloquial phrases are “turn it up” and “turn that down” in regards to volume.
But yeah, sure, matching controls to a poorly thought out UI is more important than decades of control commonality and common sense...
I didn’t criticize chastise you at all. I said you’re being stubborn which you are; by bending over backwards to defend a design for no reason. If it doesn’t bother you there’s no reason to defend it since it obviously bothers others. Why do you feel the need to tell me that my opinion isn’t justified when you could just not say anything?
It IS the best selling mid-size. It’s almost as if the audio controls aren’t the determining factor for wether or not someone buys a vehicle...
People are allowed to not be 100% in love with every single aspect of a Tacoma. If your gripe was this comes up too frequently I wouldn’t have said anything, because that would be fair. But you misquoted someone to defend something you apparently don’t care about with an illogical point

@BudFriendguy made a pretty valiant effort on this one. Check his build thread in case he has hit pay dirt. I think he stalled out like others.

I’ve adjusted. It’s way worse not having audio controls on the wheel like my ‘02.

Again, you're angry because it's different and lash out at others who have no problem adjusting after they understand it. You even label them "apologist".

Find something else to direct your frustration at and learn to adapt to change.

I wonder if scoop defenders are apologists.
    :anonymous:

That's enough, we don't need to open THAT can of worms.

Have a good one, I'm out of this thread.

On the topic of steering wheel controls ... the 2022 Bluetooth phone pick-up and hang-up buttons are upside down from the 2009 Camry. When I drive the family car I hang up on people to start the call (which is not always a bad thing).

When in doubt: Ignore and deflect. Classic
I love that when people feel attacked they say the other person is angry for being rational and having a different opinion than them. Homeboy doesn’t have a point or a reason for justifying why he had to adapt and refuses to to say that the manufacturer of his precious possession could do anything wrong.
There’s nothing wrong with learning to use a new control layout, we all did it, obviously. Just like there’s nothing wrong with pointing out that something is laid out in a stupid way or that there will soon be people in this thread to tell me I should like it or stfu

They had issues with the lighting not coming through the button windows properly, so currently they are still reworking the button pad to fix that. No clue when that will be done.

I’ve started to just turn the volume knob on the head-unit since it works as expected. When the driver has to thane his/her eyes off the road to work the controls, it’s done wrong. I’ve signened up on the waiting list to get the aftermarket controller for mine.
