Anyone know of any steering wheel upgrades for 02 Tacoma? Preferably with airbags and plug in play installation

I think there is a write up around here to put a 2nd gen Tacoma steering wheel on.

A 01-04 Lexus IS300 will be plug and play to your 02. Horn and cruise will work fine. If you can find one out of a manual car, it wont have the button shifters. Otherwise you'll have to disguise them like I did. I used an airbag from a 2002 Rav4 so Id have a Toyota emblem, again, totally plug and play.IMG_20190728_160808626.jpg

You can use the black 4Runner column trim and it will work fine in your Taco too so that it matches the wheel.IMG_20190904_180443977.jpg

1st Gen. Sienna XLE's are leather wrapped '02 Taco wheels. Getting hard to find now.

I have a IS wheel if you want it. It's just ok shape considering it's sat for years and years now. No bag. Would need Rav4 bag....or IS if wanting Lexus badge. Much harder to find.

Finding any of those airbags is a pita. Most junkyards wont sell them anymore, have to search for people parting out cars on their own.

Do I HAVE any? No, I'd have to take one. I can later. You could check about an airbag meantime. I s'pose this stuff is getting harder since the whole airbag debacle from Takarta (?) made it such a liability to sell one. I actually think that was one of the ones to be recalled.

It was made before the recalled years. But youre right, the recall is what prevents most yards from selling any airbag. Too much liability for them.

You can't even see the clock with the upgraded '01-'04 wheel. It was barely visible for the original.

Yep, there was a reason I had replaced it in the little IS. Worn on top. Really only good if somone had a bag/cover and wanted a free wheel. I think the Rav has covers that replace the shift buttons, they just don't (?) have a leather wheel option back in those years.

When I think about it, since a Sienna wheel works, there's no reason a Camry wheel wouldn't.

I notice the above mentioned wheel shop avoids 2003 and before, '03 was a year for bad airbags because i had an '03 car that I kept getting recall postcards for.

Most Toyota wheels will "work". Its the cruise control stalk and airbag connectors that make or break it. For example, for some reason a IS300 CC will work fine on an 01+ Taco, but wont work at all on the previous years.
