I recently washed and waxed my 2008 DC Prerunner. This inspired me to clean my engine bay as well. I got a can of the foamy engine cleaner spray and went to town. I've used this product in the past without any issue. Well instantly after cleaning my engine bay I noticed an engine whine that only occurs when I turn the steering wheel. It's louder when turning to the left but also there when going right. This noise wasn't there prior to using the engine cleaner. I thought maybe some got on my belt and would wear off. Well it hasn't and it's been two weeks now. So it's the original belt with 126k miles on it so I figured it had a good run and I got a new one from Toyota. Threw it on and it's still there. Ok. Next I flushed the steering fluid and ran an entire quart of dexron 3 through it working the steering to full lock in both directions to try to flush out any residual old fluid. It's still whining/squeaking. My original instinct said that the cleaner messed up the original power steering pump but it looks like a PITA to get to. Any other ideas I should try before the cussing rampage brought on by changing it begins?

I had a pump whine like you're mentioning on an S10 Pickup and besides it having that annoying whine, it never leaked nor went out FWIW. Not really any other options other than changing it if you don't want to live with the whine of the pump.
