I like the sliders idea, best of both worlds there.

i'd like to replace my stepbar for sliders, but until that happens,i'll leave the bars on....a little protection beats none at all...a guy side swipped my 99 prerunner in a subaru..did tons of damage to his car, didn't bend the westin stepbar, and minimal body damage to my truck(very minimal).i've heard of bull bars and full front cages(the old type) being called"damage multipliers",but in my case the bar saved my bodywork.

Brush bars are def damage multipliers, as are the new generation and name ripoff "bullbars".

The bullbar and roo bar actually do serve a purpose when we are talking about the Aussie definition of such bars.

These newer bullbars from companies other than ARB are just large thin tubed lightbars with extremely weak mounting brackets and nothing more.

ARB bumpers are known as bullbars to some. They actually serve protection against large animals and accidents.

As for your step bars.... I agree they most def offer some protection. But they are a diff animal than the thinner bullbars.

I voted off. I took my predator steps off almost immediately and sold them. I find they're mostly good for getting your pant leg dirty, at best. Sliders or nothing at all, in my humble opinion.

They are on a first gen, check out relentless Fab or demello, mine are currently being painted.
Get bolt on ones then you can put them on. Also, welding on frames is not the best idea.

I vote both ways. ON until you find replacement sliders but until then, bedline them black.

I personally do not like mine, but i have watched it save the truck from at least 3 door attacks at the gym. My old truck did not have them and had plenty of dings because of it. I would hold onto them until you swap for the sliders.

My bull bar weighs all of 15-20 pounds and is held on with a total of two low grade bolts, if i attempted to stand on it i can just about guarantee it would bend off or break off. I have noticed people do not seem to pull out in front of me as much any more tho.
