My wife is incapacitated to the point where she needs a step or running board to get in the truck. I've looked at several manufacturer's offerings and found hardly any for a short cab.
I'd like to use the tubular style, either round or oval, with the textured step pad. Also found the sellers aren't that familiar with what they sell. Any references to what I should be looking for would be appreciated.
    Thanx Mike B-13

Best thing to do is find one you like. I suggest google images to get started. From there research the brand on this site and others to get an idea of what people think about them. Buy said running boards/ step bars.

Finally throw some bed liner spray on the step pads and you should be good to go. I prefer LineX.

    Hope this helps some.

    Stock for now
I had the oem tube steps on my 06 DC for 5 yrs.
They worked great, plug & play line up with the factory holes.
Even after 5 yrs exposure to salt in Vt they looked fine...
I was shocked they had no rust.
Sold them when I traded the truck in.

On my tundra, their oem bars were hedious imo so I used an oval step named Raptor.
I bought the inexpensive powdercoated ones, sanded them down and sprayed them with Rustoleum Bed Coating and they held up great until I traded in the truck. I paid $180 plus materials.

Now I think I am going back to the oem tube steps on my 2013.

undercover hard toneau, stainless steel nfab step bars
I had nerf bars on my Taco and hated them, they were useless for stepping into the cab as they were too high and too close to rocker panel. I purchased step bars from N-Fab, love them. They are smaller tubing than nerf bars and have a stirrup step for each door(I have a DC). They come either powder coated or stainless steel.

+1 Another vote for running boards. Have OEM on my '99 and they've been great.

Thanks for the replies. We tried several, including the OEM styles, and found a set by Westin works for her.

OP, give me a shout if you haven't already got something ordered. Maybe I have a few options that will work for your circumstances.
